Turkey - Choosing the Right Destination

Turkish Coastline – The Turquoise Coast is made up of 6 separate sections, and thy cover 8.000 km of coastline with 397 blue flag beaches, and plenty of amazing towns and cities to visit along the way.

BODRUM is considered to be one of the chicest and European resorts in Turkey. This city provides you with palm-lined streets and whitewashed, flat-roofed houses dotted across its terraced hillsides. It gives you the stunning backdrop of the Castle of St.Peter. However, what is most important about Bodrum is the fact that it is the yachting center of Turkey. It has one of the worlds finest marinas and most popular in the Mediterranean.

Along the Bodrum peninsula, you will encounter Gumbet (Gümbet), a popular beach nearby. Then there is Gumusluk (Gümüşlük), which is secluded and perfect for those quiet fish dining restaurants and small harbor experience. It is also a great place for snorkeling to see the underwater ruins.

Bitez is for the older and more discerning crowd and has a sheltered cove perfect to shallow water sailing students.

Turgutreis has a new marina and is a wonderful place to visit with small children due to the shallow coastline.

Turkbuku (Türkbükü) is an exceptional and exclusive location with some of the best food on the entire coastline.

Ortakent is a local beach for locals, and most of the visitors are Turkish, claiming this to be the best beach on the peninsula.

DATCA (Datça)  is an inaccessiblespot from the road and is visited by bluecruises mainly. This is an amazing stop off for charters.  It is a charmingwhitewashed village draped with bougainvilleaand provides you with a lot of shops,bars, and restaurants that mainly serve fish and traditional Turkishfoods. 

Hisaronu (Hisarönü) basically a stunning location, surrounded by stunning pine clad mountains. This is one location you must stop at and visit the local sights for food and walking.

MARMARIS - The name of Marmaris goes before it, an amazing modern sea resort town where the Aegean and the Mediterranean meet.

Icmeler (İçmeler) is much greener than neighboring Marmaris and gives you wide streets lined with trees and a relaxed ambiance. 

DALYAN is a small town on a river delta on the south-western coast of Turkey. This is a sleepy fishing town that gives its name to a number of amazing locations.

Iztuzu Beach is completely undeveloped and is reached by boat from Dalyan. It is a gold sandbar with the shallow shelved sea.

Ancient City of Kaunos - This ancient ruined city holds a Greek theatre and Temple to Apollo. The ruins of the ancient city of Kaunos are reached by boat or on foot.  

Sarigerme - This is a growing tourist center that is backed by pine trees and faces a fine sandy beach. This is perfect for family visits.

GOCEK has an excellent marina and also has great upmarket restaurants and boutiques, a perfect respite from a long day on the sea.

FETHIYE Coastline of Turkey is where you will find all those amazing lost coves and hidden moorings, This is the most popular of destinations, and there is a day tour of the twelve islands. You don`t need to take it since you are on a yacht, but definitely consider visiting the locations if you are there.

Oludeniz (Ölüdeniz)Beach near Fethiye is known as the blue lagoon but is very famous for its paragliding too.

KALKAN coastline is dotted with sophistication and upmarket resorts. The village itself is steeped in old world culture and has excellent traditional Turkish food.

Kas (Kaş) is a virtually untouched relaxed harbor town, with a laid-back atmosphere.  

Kekova is reached by boat and is a group of islands. This is home to some amazing Lycian settlements and submerged cities — a perfect day trip for snorkeling and relaxing near the local Simena Castle, a quaint port overlooked by the ruins of a Crusader castle.

Patara is the longest beach in Turkey 22 km of beautiful white sand, backed by dunes and mimosa bushes.

Loryma Peninsula brings you along the coastline of olive groves, pine forests, and plenty of good fresh foods and delicious local wines.

ANTALYA - The name Antalya evokes visions of daytime delights and nighttime fun, this is the Turkish Riviera and provides hundreds of locations literally to visit. However, let`s focus on what you see from a yacht, which includes the stunning mountain scenery, where the city of Antalya is set high on the cliffs. Around 12 km east from the city is the golden sand beach of Lara, while to the west is the long pebble beach of Konyaalti. Other places along the coast include Patara beach, Belek golf resort, Kemer a multipurpose resort, and Alanya a modern resort with a beautiful harbor that has a dominant red tower. Alanya is a must place to stop and look at.

Then there is the old town of Side is set on a peninsula with sandy beaches, followed by the Olympos Bay Mountains Coast National Park and the Koprulu Canyon National Park.

EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN COAST

The Eastern Mediterranean shore is steeped in history and is the stepping ground of many an ancient civilization.

Mersin is Turkey’s biggest free trade area on the Mediterranean and is surrounded by orange and lemon groves.

Kizkalesi (Maiden’s Castle) is named appropriately after a crusader castle that seems to float in the blue water 150 meters offshore from this beach resort town

Iskenderun, or Alexandretta, was founded by Alexander the Great, following his victory against the Persians at Issos.  This is a busy commercial port where you can get the large Iskenderun prawns.  

Tasucu (Taşucu) is a typical holiday resort. That gives you white beaches and pristine waters to wade and swim.

NORTH AEGEAN COAST

The North Aegean coast has over 9000 years of history, mythology, and culture. This amazing Turkish coastline provides plenty of sailing, scuba diving, and swimming in crystal clear waters. There are plenty of fine sandy beaches, tons of resort towns and unlimited supplies of local food and culture. Yet, this is a quiet sleepy coastline, perfect for a relaxed charter.

Cesme (Çeşme) is a sleepy resort town that has an imposing 14th-century castle of St.Peter, and yet, it only has two main streets with shops, restaurants and a couple of bars. The peninsula is great for windsurfing and Alacati is considered to be one of the worlds best windsurfing locations.

Kusadasi (Kuşadası) is a large cosmopolitan resort and is home to one of the most resplendent beaches in all of Turkey, the Ladies beach. This area also contains the Dilek Peninsula, National Park.

Ayvalik has a nice port and is surrounded by pine forests. This is a great place to escape locations that are filled with foreign tourists.

Altinkum means Golden Sand and is a gorgeous beach location.

Assos is an ancient city that sits atop a rocky peak, it provides you with unbelievable views of the Aegean and Greece beyond, and its harbor is one of the most picturesque on the Aegean coastline.
